Katie and Bob
Charity: Foundation for Senior Living
Katie and Bob have been together for 71 years. Both are approaching their 90th birthday. As proudly and fiercely independent as they try to be, they cannot physically perform daily tasks like they did in their younger years. Their neighbors take out their trash and bring in their mail.
When Katie broke her leg, their physical limitations really surfaced. Bob suffers from macular degeneration, which makes it difficult for him to read the instructions on food containers. Bob was never much of a cook and depended upon instructions and labels.
Katie’s fracture and immobility and Bob’s poor eyesight resulted in a challenge. How were Bob and Katie going to keep their health if they couldn’t prepare healthy meals? They certainly could not afford to eat out often.
Fortunately, a neighbor told them about FSL’s home-delivered meals program. They began to receive a nutritious, hot meal every day from FSL’s industrial kitchen that prepares congregate and home-delivered meals. In fact, FSL prepares over 40,000 meals annually for seniors and homebound adults with disabilities and illnesses.
As Bob and Katie have grown older, this program has become more and more important. Katie can't drive and Bob struggles to get in and out of a car.
Without FSL’s program, Bob and Katie would likely lose their independence. FSL provides the key to their health and self-sufficiency.
