Charity: Northern Arizona Veterans' Resource Center

MJ is a 45-year-old Army Veteran. Since he left the Army he has worked as a flooring installer supporting his young daughter. Three months ago MJ had a stroke and has not been able to return to work since. Since he hadn’t been cleared yet to go back to work, he was unable to make his last two month’s rent payments. He came into VRC seeking help, with a notice from his landlord to either pay in 5 days or he and his daughter would be evicted. A VRC case manager was able to jump in and pay his past due rent payments. VRC covered his rent and utility payments until he was cleared two months later to go back to work. MJ also qualified for food stamps, which his case manager helped him apply for. Since exiting the VRC program, MJ and daughter have had no problems making their payments and are happily still living in the apartment that they have called home for many years.
