Foundation for Senior Living

When Bobbi L. first moved to Wickenburg, she only asked for rides to Safeway once a week. After she suffered a stroke, Freedom Express transported her to physical therapy. During one of her trips, Bobbi asked for a referral to a reputable, local, low-cost counselor. Bobbi shared that she was depressed about her stroke and her husband who, suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, was in a care center in Kingman. The Foundation for Senior Living staff connected to a counselor at a local church.

Pima Council on Aging

Karen turned to Pima Council on Aging for help with her mother, who had suffered a stroke. She had made a promise to her mom that she would never put her in a nursing home. Karen would not have been able to provide round-the-clock care her mom needed without the breaks she was afforded through PCOA’s caregiver respite services. She was able to have a few hours, a couple of times a week, to take care of her own health and errands.

Bojangles- Yavapai Humane Society

Bojangles was an eight-year-old Bichon Frise that suffered the unthinkable. Bojangles’ family was tragically lost in a fatal car accident while traveling through Seligman, Arizona from Las Vegas in December. Bojangles escaped from the car during the accident, was recovered, but suffered a painful injury to his right hip. The YHS chief veterinarian performed a femoral head ostectomy surgery on his hip. Staff then found a foster family where he could heal and get lots of extra TLC. His foster family fell in love with him and now plans to adopt Bojangles when he is fully recovered.
